"Infidelity Statistics, Do They Relate To Cheating Spouses?"

Its kind of hard to come up with accurate infidelity statistics but I did some digging around the internet and the following stats are some that I found on infidelity that are interesting.

Of course how the infidelity statistics relate to you and your situation is hard to tell. If you think your spouse is cheating these give you something else to think about.

1. We know that 50-60% of all marriages in the U.S. end up in divorce.

2. In the last decade or so incidents of adultery have risen as much as 50-70 percent.

3. 75% of people committing adultery are in the middle class. This one seems a little high but then the middle class is very large..

4. 60-70% of the people committing adultery are men. The women have been gaining in the last decade and in another decade it would not surprise me if the percentage is close to 50-50. In another post I will discuss reasons that more women are becoming cheating spouses.

5. About 15-20% of discreet affairs began in a chatroom on the internet. This will also be a topic for several posts in the future. The things you can do to determine what your spouse is doing online will spelled out in detail.

6. About 30% of spouses that are involved in infidelity bring financial ruin down on their family. Another reason you need to act and catch your cheating spouse before he leaves you with nothing.

7. A big one - Almost 3/4 thats 75% of affairs take place with someone in the workplace or someone that has dealings with the business in some way.

8. About 50% of adultery takes place in a hotel or motel. They had to pay some way. Look for receipts and credit card charges.

9. On a bad note about 15% of spouses that have discreet affairs at some point move on to physical abuse with their partner at home

10. Ending on a good note, about 80% of persons involved in infidelity who confess to their spouse before getting caught recover and enjoy a stronger marriage. Of course that leads to the question of how many confess before they are caught. Very few.

There are more infidelity statistics out there but I felt these were interesting.
