What Is Cheating To You?Cheating is about the unfair advantage taken by one over the other. The reasons people cheat are varied and numerous. People cheat in the business world everyday and in relationships. Some cheating happens on purpose and sometimes there is that gray area, especially in sports and business. What does the above definition mean to you? For some reason when we talk about cheaters in relationships there even seems to be a lot of gray area for some. We have a good analogy about baseball below. Cheating is quite simply the act of not playing by the rules as understood by the players. If the activity is a baseball game, and the rules as set forth by the players state that everyone will use a wooden bat, and one person takes it upon oneself to use an aluminum bat, this gives the user of the aluminum bat an unfair advantage. Interestingly, the sandlot ball games of little children seem to offer the forum for the most honest and relationship-based values in the game of baseball. The children, with their intrinsic sense of fairness and joy for the game, don’t take the winning or loosing very seriously. The children are intent on the process, the physical activity, and the beautiful environment within which they choose to conduct a fun activity. As the game becomes more structured and ego-based, as in moving into professional sports, cheating becomes more prevalent and almost expected. Relationship becomes less important; personal stature and gain becomes the matter of importance, not the spirit of the game or interaction between humans. Notice above where it says cheating becomes almost expected. I have a little different take. I have ran into situations where the husband could not understand the wife being mad at him for having a girlfriend on the side. As long as he was not hurting anybody and no one knew about it he felt it was okay. Besides according to him he had no feelings for the girlfriend. Evidently if the wife does not have time for him (in his eyes) he assumes its okay to have him a girlfriend on the side. Its a sad state that cheating has become accepted in so many parts of our society. But of course you do not have to take a spouse cheating on you. There are many steps you can take.
